This Program is facilitated by Jemma Stefanou, who is a settler-migrant, queer and disabled person living and working on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. They work as an urban farmer and community connector, with a focus on identity, healing and learning through food growing and sharing, respectfully, on stolen land.

All levels of experience are welcome, especially those eager to get their hands in the dirt and need a guide to get there. Come and learn from each other, check in with the season, move our bodies and watch seedlings grow

Seeds of Change is now in its third week of the pr Seeds of Change is now in its third week of the program and we are getting into a rhythm of working slowly and intentionally on Monday mornings. Our sessions incorporate a weekly practice of prompted journaling, collecting and making tea for each other from the garden, watering the greenhouse seedlings and learning new skills. Today we spent the morning searching for seeds to collect, process and save for future plant sales. We used books, the internet and our networks to ID plants, learn their names and their germination treatments, including smoke treatment methods for Themeda (kangaroo grass). We also have been going through our seed collection over the past two weeks, with 8+ years of saved seed and have been sorting through them, filing them and making seed packets for the community seed library. And we started making signs for the garden! Next week, we're sowing seeds we have collected.

"Being in the garden feels like the most grounding way to start the week. With soft breezes, sounds of birds, and a collective and communal interest in plants, I have a chance to be immersed in my immediate environment in an intentional and nourishing way. From looking at plants, observing them with help from Jemma, understanding their life cycle and contributing to it by harvesting and organising the seeds in anticipation of sowing them, is exciting".
Samra, Seeds of Change participant
What a wonderful celebration we had on Saturday at What a wonderful celebration we had on Saturday at the Harvest Festival! 🌿☀️

It was so special to see our local community come together to celebrate the changing of the seasons—made even better by a full day of glorious sunshine.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, visited the café, took-part in workshops and supported our very popular plant sale. It was heartwarming to see the Neighbourhood House outdoor space absolutely buzzing with connection and joy.

This event was a true collaboration between Reynard Street Neighbourhood House and our incredible volunteers, whose time, skills, and energy make such a meaningful difference in our community. We are truly grateful for their generosity and commitment.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank all of the amazing facilitators and partners for donating their time and offerings on the day.

And a special shout out to Liz Morrigan and Simon Eastmon for planting the original seed of idea for this event and for their dedication, time and efforts toward planning and making this event come to fruition.
